Women are strong ambassadors of peace in our communities, their leadership and participation in peace processes is key to lasting peace.
With support from Search for Common Ground (SFCG) we engage grassroots women and create space for them to identify and discuss solutions to issues affecting their communities. In Juba, we bring women from different ethnic groups to discuss the negative impacts and divisive lines created by tribal-based settlement in Juba. The identified women leaders discuss how to build bridges and create women networks that cut across communities of various ethnicities.
These activities have been conducted in the Gumbo-Shirkat and Lologo II suburbs of Juba.
CEDAR is partnering with SFCG on a project: “Strengthening Young Women Participation in Local and National Peace Processes in South Sudan”, a project that seeks to strengthen the ability of young women leaders and groups to collaboratively lead local and national-level peace efforts; and to transform attitudes and behaviours about women and youth in peace and security.
