COVID-19 is spreading in South Sudan at an alarming speed. Let’s join our hands together for the fight against the pandemic.
In support of the fight against Coronavirus in vulnerable communities, CEDAR launched its awareness campaign in Juba on 20th May 2020, following completion of the volunteers training. The team of 10 volunteers visited Lologo, Gumbo and Shirkat on 20 May 2020 and conducted awareness raising meetings with women in communal places like open markets. The team also distributed hand washing items like tapped water containers, liquid and solid soap, and face masks.
South Sudan is currently recording a high rate of community transmission of the virus, which places vulnerable communities at high risk. This is why CEDAR is focusing strong awareness raising on vulnerable communities to be able to accept that the virus exists and to protect themselves. CEDAR also disseminated messages against stigmatization, hate speech, stereotyping and any form of discrimination against anybody including those directly affected by the virus.
We encourage everyone who can to rise up against Coronavirus and join us in the fight.
Protect yourself and others from Coronavirus. Please remember to….

- Cover your mouth and nose when copying or sneezing with disposable tissue or use your flexed elbow and remember to wash your hands after or sanitize.

- Avoid handshakes and keep social distance
- Always wear a face mask when visiting congested places or sitting closely with others like in a car
